What is Dustkiller® - Electronic Air Purifier

Dustkiller® -Dust filtration system, is a high-efficiency, two-stage electrostatic precipitator, designed, developed and manufactured by Powertech Pollution Controls Pvt. Ltd. Bangalore, India. The primary application of the DustKiller® is for atmospheric pollutant control in any closed room, air-conditioned or otherwise.

The DustKiller® BIO variant can capture and control atmospheric pollutants as well as bacteria, fungus and mold(bio-particles) in any closed area

Dust Killer

Features

This equipment can achieve a high level of dust control in any closed area. Very fine floating particles can be captured before they can settle down on sensitive precision equipment. It provides high dust capture efficiency. All filter modules are many times washable and re-usable during the life of the equipment. Maintenance and running costs are low when compared to conventional mechanical filters. We have incorporated safety features such as high voltage fault trip circuitry for reliable, safe and efficient functioning. These systems contribute to a safer, healthier work environment where toxic airborne pollutants are removed. We provide excellent factory support and product expertise based on years of industrial process emission control.

In addition to the above features, the DustKiller®-BIO variant makes use of germicidal ultra-violet lamps and pre/post filter media impregnated with nano particles of silver and titanium di-oxide aid in capturing and rendering bio-particles non-viable.

Applications

DustKiller® – Electronic Air Purifier can be used for controlling dust and fine particles in any closed room, preferably but not necessarily fitted with window / split type air conditioners – electronic labs, mechanical precision assembly areas, standards room, metrology labs, pharmaceuticals, bio-tech labs etc., or wherever dust control is a necessity.

The DustKiller®-BIO can be used as a primary or supplementary device in any room where dust control and bio-particle control is required, like Operation Theatres, Intensive Care Units, Patient Care rooms, Recovery rooms etc. The DustKiller®-BIO units will supplement standard sterilization and disinfection procedures such as fumigation, germicidal UV sterilization, wipe-down, etc, which are used in all or some of the above areas to control dust as well as bio-particles. Once these procedures are over, the room starts deteriorating over time. The DustKiller®-BIO units can be installed in these areas and be left running continuously for excellent control of pollutants in the room over extended time periods.

Each DustKiller® unit can be quickly installed without major changes in the existing area.

How it Works

Pollutants including dust, bacteria, fungus and mold enter the DustKiller® through the suction inlets (1) carried by the air stream provided by an in-built low-noise suction fan(2). Pollutants enter the prefilter(3) where a part of dust and bio-particles are captured. The remaining pollutants enter the electrostatic modules(5) where, between a series of parallel aluminium plates, they are subjected to +ve and -ve electrostatic charges. The pollutants are captured on the plates just like iron filings are attracted to a magnet. The pollutants remain on the plates even when the electrostatic filter is switched off. The air, now devoid of pollutants, passes through the post-filter (7) that filters any remaining particles and distributes the air flow. The air then escapes through the outlet (8) of the system as clean air.

For the DustKiller®-BIO, the pre-filters are impregnated with nano particles and aided by a pair of germicidal lamps (4) placed immediately after. The filter modules are continuously bathed in the germicidal UV light and the post-filter is impregnated with nano-particles, aided by a second pair of germicidal lamps (6), all to render the captured bio-particles non-viable.

Working of Dustkiller®

Maintenance

(Electrical power should be disconnected) Regular maintenance of the DustKiller® and DustKiller®-BIO units should be carried out by trained personnel. The electrostatic filter modules are to be washed periodically using pressurized water at around 110bar near an Effluent Treatment Plant. The UV lamps and sensors are to be wiped with a dry, clean lint-free cloth. The pre and post filter media is not washable but is to be replaced periodically. AC mains power ON, UV lamps fault as well as machine fault indicators(9) are provided along with an LCD display(optional) which indicates the particle count in the room for PM2.5 and PM10 particles (approximate running average value).
